Terms of service
Last updated: 2026-06-11
These terms govern your access to and use of HS Code Finder (https://hs-code.shipcostlab.com, "the Site"), operated by José Manuel Volante González — see the Legal notice for full provider identification.
1. The service
The Site is a free, browser-based informational tool. It suggests candidate Harmonized System (HS) tariff classifications — the 6-digit WCO code plus EU CN, US HTSUS and UK commodity-code extensions — from a product description you type. There are no user accounts, no registration, no subscriptions and no paid features on the Site today.
2. Results are advisory, not binding
Classifications produced by the Site are orientative. They do not constitute customs, tax, legal or financial advice, and they are not a binding tariff ruling. Importers and exporters remain solely liable for the accuracy of the classification they declare. For a binding decision, use the official channels: EBTI (EU Binding Tariff Information), CROSS / binding rulings (US CBP) or ATaR (UK Advance Tariff Ruling), or consult a licensed customs broker.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Site to violate any law or third-party rights;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or circumvent security controls of the Site;
- scrape or republish the underlying datasets in bulk in a way that misrepresents their source or version.
4. Intellectual property
The Site's interface, copy and code are owned by the provider unless otherwise attributed. Tariff nomenclatures are published by their respective authorities (WCO, European Commission, USITC, HMRC); each result panel cites the dataset edition used. You may quote short excerpts of the Site with attribution.
5. Availability and warranties
The Site is provided "as is" and free of charge. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, nor that the datasets reflect the very latest amendment of any tariff schedule — the dataset version and last-verified date are displayed next to every result.
6. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the provider is not liable for losses arising from reliance on orientative classifications, including duties, penalties or delays assessed by any customs authority. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
7. Changes
We may update these terms. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. Disputes are subject to the courts of the provider's domicile in Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection forum that applies to you.
